Diamondbacks vs. Rockies MLB Pick – August 13th

The Arizona Diamondbacks got behind early last night, using a 4-0 hole in the 1st inning. But, that didn’t deter them from clawing back and forth notching an 8-6 win. The Rockies scored only two runs in the contest, which may have been the most surprising part of the game. Blowing a 4-run lead at Coors Field, particularly after only 1 inning of play, isn’t a shocker in any sense.
But the Rockies getting basically shutdown the rest of the game is a bit of a surprise. It looked like it had been shaping up to become a different 13-11 Coors Field classic at the moment. The bullpen had been the winners last night to the Diamondbacks. They moved strong innings without allowing a run following Merrill Kelly abandoned the match.
You may have forgot about that the Diamondbacks after they exchanged Zack Greinke, however they are still here and not moving away. Regardless of trading their ace, the Snakes are believing postseason as a wildcard. It is not likely to be simple to reach, but they are within striking distance in 2.5 games back of the final wildcard. That leaves sufficient space for them to proceed on a jog in September.
It’s not enjoy the Diamondbacks didn’t get anything at the deadline, even though. They could trade for a shining prospect, Zac Gallen. I believe Gallen was a huge acquisition by the Diamondbacks, that they have been in a position to start immediately with Greinke gone. He is starting and contributing for the Diamondbacks straight out of the get-go. Gallen gets the nod against Jon Gray of the Rockies tonight. Head below for our free Diamondbacks vs. Rockies pick.

Zac Gallen has done everything asked of him from his young career thus far. He debuted earlier this year with the Marlins and was pitching exceptionally well. Gallen felt comfortable with the Diamondbacks immediate, as he threw a stone in his very first outing for a Diamondback. He allowed only 1 hit, so it was a stunning debut for the youngster in town. The Marlins took the training wheels in June and introduced him as a fulltime starter in the rotation.
Gallen was on point again, because he posted an ERA of all 2.72 together with the Marlins in seven outings. He allowed 2 or less runs in six games, with no longer than 3 runs allowed. Gallen attracted his ERA back to 2.40 following scoreless ball versus the Phillies.
This is going to be a more demanding spot tonight at Coors Field. It is a location that pitchers hate to pitch, however, it is not like Jon Gray has completed exceptional against the Diamondbacks or anything. The offense should afford Gallen would some solid run support.
Gray has given a .294 batting average and .340 OBP to the Diamondbacks at 136 at-bats. There are nine distinct hitters around the Arizona roster which have hit better than .300 from Gray, so they’ve been able to get any fun against him previously. There are numerous hitters within this lineup that Gray must be conscious of.
After Gray, a fairly terrible bullpen follows for the Diamondbacks. The Rockies’ bullpen is 28th in the majors with the ERA of 5.24. Conversely, the Diamondbacks are 13th with a 4.34 ERA. The oddsmakers aren’t giving Gallen much honor here, but I will offer him a vote of confidence with a play around the Diamondbacks this evening.
