Joey Logano’s NASCAR Cup Championship Odds Now 7-1 Following Controversial Win in Michigan

Joey Logano was accused of cheating this past weekend by Martin Truex Jr., but NASCAR disagreed. At any speed, Logano ended up winning the FireKeepers Casino 400, making his second victory of the season. His NASCAR Cup Championship odds are now at +700, but is he a good bet to win for a second consecutive season, or is he too insecure of a wager?

*Odds taken 06/13/19 Logano is Hot Now Logano has had a couple of really strong moves this season where you consider him as a good bet to win everything, and then he will have the odd hiccup here and there. He placed fourth at the Dayton 500 but then followed up with a 23rd in Atlanta. He had three straight top 10’s after that and then back-to-back finishes of 17th and 19th.
Logano is really on a heater. He won last week in Michigan but that has been his fourth straight top 7 end and eighth in his last nine outings. He is currently the leader in terms of points in the NASCAR standings, and a case can be made that he’s been the best driver annually.

Back-to-Back Championship Winners Are Rare The challenge with betting on Logano is that you need to remember that winning the NASCAR championship in back-to-back years is demanding. No driver has done that because Jimmie Johnson had his historic run of five straight titles in a row from 2006-2010.
Logano Has Been Overshadowed
One of the reasons Logano is not higher up the record concerning chances (even though he is on top of the points standings) is because he’s been overshadowed by motorists with more wins. This past weekend was his second win of this year, but Kyle Busch has four wins, Martin Truex Jr. has three, and Denny Hamlin has two.
