The Atlanta Falcons and wide receiver Julio Jones have agreed that a tenth, $66m (Number 53m) fully guaranteed contract extension with $64 (#51.5m) due immediately.
The Falcons and jones are working toward a contract for decades.
Owner Arthur Blank said in March the team needed a deal done prior to training camp, even while general manager Thomas Dimitroff set a objective of the beginning of the Falcons’ period, which will be Sunday.
Jones, 30, had been set to produce $21m (#17m) within the next two seasons on his existing contract. Together with the three-year extension , the Falcons and Jones are now tied for five decades.
Entering his first year, Jones is coming from the sixth Pro Bowl choice – and second in a row – after catching 113 passes for a yards and eight touchdowns last season.
He remains the NFL’s all-time leader in career receiving yards per game (96.7).
