Nicky Henderson yet to commit to plans for Altior

Nicky Henderson has warned plans are fluid for Altior.

Paul Nicholls had confirmed the latter was on target for the Berkshire showpiece at his sailors’ Open Day on Sunday but composing in his site for Unibetthe Seven Barrows trainer said:”I’d love to make it crystal very clear that nothing was set in stone as to what he will do. After a short conversation with Patricia Pugh (proprietor on Sunday) we will all sit down in the very close to future and make a decision about which path we choose.
“It was the exact same a few years ago when we needed to choose whether to stay hurdling and goal for the Unibet Champion Hurdle or go newcomer chasing, but I believe that it’s fair to say we’ve made the right decision on that front!
“We all know how good Altior is at two miles and I suppose you could say if we’re the best at one thing, why alter it? But I think he is looking for yet another half a mile where case we must start thinking about is your King George?
“I have a enormous amount of admiration for Cyrname and I am not afraid to take him on with Altior, but it is by no means certain that they will meet in the Ascot Chase as most have indicated and there is no doubt we’ll do what is ideal for your horse.
“Altior is back Seven Barrows and then cantering away nicely so what’s going well and when we’ve made a decision about where he’ll begin his season, I’ll allow you to know!”
