Teams receive four points for a win and two to get a draw. A bonus point is given for scoring four tries or for a beat by seven points or fewer.
Runner-up and the winner in each pool qualify for its quarter-finals.
When teams are tied at full time at the knockout stages, then the winner will be determined through additional time, if there is no winner then death and a kicking contest if the scores remain tied.
