Can you believe you know which groups will meet in Super Bowl 54 at Miami, Florida? Thanks to a single online sportsbook, you can put your money where your mouth is.
According to 5Dimes, the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints are the likeliest teams to bump at the Super Bowl on February 2, 2020 in +2400 odds. The Patriots vs the Los Angeles Rams (+2750), the Rams vs the Kansas City Chiefs (+2825), the Chiefs versus the Saints (+2825) and a Super Bowl 52 rematch between the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles (+2875) round out the top five at the store.
Since the Patriots would be the +700 faves to win the Super Bowl, it’s no real surprise to see them so high in this respect. Tom Brady and business look five times because the AFC agents in the top 20 among the record — tied together with all the Saints for the many looks. In the Brady/Bill Belichick era, the Patriots are to the Super Bowl twice days while winning it about six occasions.
The Rams’ first appearance in the big game since 2001 couldn’t have gone much worse, even as L.A. fought to find anything going in a 13-3 blow to the Patriots in February.
But the Rams have one of the brightest young coaches in the NFL at Sean McVay, a star running back in Todd Gurley, an emerging signal-caller at Jared Goff and a stacked defense headlined by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. Each the bits to get back to the championship match are not there.
My pick to come from the AFC is undoubtedly the Chiefs. A perennial contender in the conference, Kansas City needed a very different look in 2018 because of the explosion of Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes, who claimed the MVP Award for his leading campaign, had one of the most impressive seasons we have observed from a quarterback in recent memory and will be primed to shred defenses to another decade-plus.
The 23-year-old gunslinger includes a litany of weapons at his disposal, and Chiefs general manager patched up his leaky defense in the offseason by earning Steve Spagnuolo as the defensive coordinator and signing up safety Tyrann Mathieu and cornerback Bashaud Breeland.
The Chiefs defense ranked 31st in the league last season with 6,488 yards allowed, but the device will probably observe a substantial improvement this season. Together with Mahomes lightning things up on offense and the protection taking a jump, don’t be surprised if Kansas City leaves a Super Bowl run. Some of their Super Bowl matchups I enjoy value-wise are contrary to the Green Bay Packers (+4725) and Atlanta Falcons (+5850).
